MLB 14 The Show, NBA 2K14 Bundle 'Sports Pack Vol. 1' Heading to PS3 in April (TRAILER)

2K Sports and Sony are releasing a special $90 two-pack of NBA 2K14 and the upcoming MLB 14 The Show for the PS3 on April 1 called Sports Pack Vol. 1.

This is being seen as an interesting move because both games are developed by a different company and previously MLB 2K13 was crushed by MLB 13 The Show. However, 2K will not have a baseball game this year, and NBA 2K14 is being heralded as one of the best basketball games ever made, so the match seems to fit.

According to Polygon, Sony has previously paired two different developers together in other bundles. Those were, BioShock Infinite and The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim as well as Borderlands 2 and Dishonored.

Polygon reported Sports Pack Vol. 1 will include 6,000 stubs, which is the in game currency for The Show, and 20,000 in Virtual Currency for NBA 2K14. These currency's value at around $10 per game.

"The Highest Rated Basketball and Baseball Games Together -- Only on PlayStation. MLB 14 The Show and NBA 2K14 are now available in one pack, a $129.99 Value for only $89.99. A must have for any sports gamer," reads the description of a promotional video.

MLB 14 The Show for the PS4 will be launching a little late for the start of baseball this year when it releases on May 6.

"The official PS4 release date has arrived! Get your hands on MLB 14 The Show for the PS4 on May 6. For more details and pre-order info go to: www.baseballisbetter.com #BASEBALLisBETTER #WelcomeToTheShow" said a post on the game's Facebook.

However, its PS3 and PS Vita counterparts will be arriving just in time on April 1, according to a Sony announcement.
Polygon reported that all three versions of the game will feature "parity" with one another, which was one of the reasons why the next-gen version is taking a bit longer to come out. Developer, Sony San Diego is also aiming to have the game run in 1080p 60fps on the PS4.

NBA 2K14 was released on Oct. 1 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. It arrived for the PS4 on Nov. 15 and the Xbox One on Nov. 22.

2K14 outsold NBA 2K13 with just the next-gen versions of the game by Christmas time, which was an unexpected revelation for 2K Sports.

2K's latest game has gotten rave reviews, and has sold very well in both the next-gen and previous gen versions of the game.

"If you look at the current generation and the next-generation [of NBA 2K14] together, we've actually sold in more units combined than we did last year on just the current generation," said Karl Slatoff, Take-Two President, reports PlayStation Lifestyle. "So you hear a lot in the industry right now about the problems that developers are having in the transition period and the risk that are associated with transition, which are all very true. But in our specific situations, we only have one game right now for next-gen. We're not seeing that."
