‘Mission Impossible 5’ Release Date, Cast Spoilers: Rebecca Ferguson Bags Female Lead Role

Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson is cast as the female lead role alongside Tom Cruise's character in the upcoming Mission Impossible 5. Paramount Pictures, Skydance, and Bad Robot have also commissioned Alec Baldwin to play as the CIA chief. The film is set to premiere next year, and production starts in August with director Chris McQuarrie (The Way of the Gun, Jack Reacher).

In a recent report by Deadline, 30 Rock lead Baldwin, is currently in talks with film producers on what is one of the most coveted roles. Laurence Fishburne played a similar role in the previous film installments including the recent Ghost Protocol. Meanwhile, Ferguson was given the female role after Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain declined the offer. The actress also starred in BBC's The White Queen.

'MI 5' is set to film scenes in London including shots inside the House of Parliament. The film, which focuses on the return of Ethan Hunt, is under the supervision of executive producer J.J. Abrams. Mission Impossible 5 is a part of a long running saga that started in 1996 as an adaptation of a television series from back in the 60s and 70s.

Simon Pegg (Benji Dunn) and Jeremy Renner (Wiliam Brandt) are included in the sequel as they are set to re-take their roles. Mission Impossible 5 is set to premiere in theaters worldwide on December 25, 2015. The film is written by Will Staples and Drew Pearce, who was also a co-writer for Iron Man 3.
