Mission Impossible 5 Movie Release Date Christmas 2015: 'Prometheus' Star Sean Harris to Tackle Film's Villain?

Tom Cruise returns to the action scene as Ethan Hunt in 'Mission: Impossible 5' which is set to be released on Dec. 25, 2015. Cruise was supposed to star as Napoleon Solo in 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E.', but had to pull away from the project to come back as Agent Hunt in the upcoming blockbuster.

Rumor has it, that in the new film, Cruise will be dealing with a villain played by 'Prometheus' star Sean Harris. Harris was offered the role by Paramount Studios and Skydance Production. However, recent news says that the actor not yet signed the contract for role in the movie.

In 'Mission: Impossible 5', Cruise will be joined by former 'Mission: Impossible' co-stars, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames.

As of now, details about the plot and the new villain are still unknown. Film buffs and fans anticipate how 'Mission: Impossible 5' will be a step up in terms of actions after 'Ghost Protocol', the fourth franchise installment in 2011. 'Ghost Protocol' is known as the 'Mission: Impossible' series' highest-grossing film so far.

The fifth 'Mission: Impossible' movie will be directed by Chris McQuarrie who also directed 'Jack Reacher' and wrote 'Edge of Tomorrow'.

While the film is under the pressure of living up to 'Ghost Protocol', it's going to see some serious competition at the box office as Screen Rant reports that it will be sharing the spotlight with 'Star Wars: Episode VII' and 'Warcraft' scheduled to be released a week earlier.

'Kung Fu Panda 3' will also be in theaters during the Holiday season as it opens two days before 'Mission: Impossible 5' along with Ben Affleck's 'Live By Night'.

The film will be in cinemas on Christmas Day, 2015 in the U.S. and is set to be released on Dec. 26, 2015 in the U.K.
