Mission Impossible 5 Movie Cast Rumors: Jessica Chastain to Appear Alongside Tom Cruise
Many will agree that the Mission: Impossible franchise, and it's willingness to open up to different directors, enables it to follow new and exciting paths and plot lines in each of its installments.
Directors such as Brian De Palma, John Woo, J.J. Abrams, Brad Bird and now Christopher McQuarrie, mend and mold the franchise into an unexpected array of whirlwind action and cinematography every time. Some may percieve that consistant change like this is the reason for keeping Mission: Impossible fresh and alive.
The fifth film, expected to be released in December of 2015, has Tom Cruise and British actor/comedian Simon Pegg confirmed as members of its cast. However, rumors speculate that Jessica Chastain, the two-time Oscar-nominee, is being vied to star alongside Cruise as one of its lead characters.
A source from Schmoes Know, an online entertainment site, reported that Chastain has been offered a role in the Mission: Impossible 5 action film. The report stated that the role would play as Cruise's right-hand woman. However, it would be important to mention that the site's report may not be completely accurate. The story of Mission: Impossible 5 is still in the re-writing stage so a lot of things can change. All the same, the mention of Chastain's name in the franchise is one definite boost for marketing purposes.
Chastain is an exemplary actress with so much experience under her belt. She is a hard-working, accomplished and in-demand talent who does not leave any stone unturned. Chastain is popular because of the acting range she can command, as evidenced by the different roles she has portrayed in past movies. Mission: Impossible 5 will give her a different opportunity, an action role, which contrasts from her other dramatic performances.
If there is a more reasonable basis for her to be included in Mission: Impossible 5, it is that she has nearly worked alongside Cruise in the sci-fi movie Oblivion (2013). It did not push through because, according to reports, it conflicted with Chastain's already tight schedule.
Mission: Impossible 5 is set to be released on December 25, 2015. The script is penned by Drew Pearce, the man responsible for Iron Man 3, while production is managed by Cruise himself.
