Plane Crash Confirmed in Chester County, 2 Dead

A missing plane has been found by authorities, with officials confirming that 2 people have died from the incident, which took place in Chestnut County.

The missing single-engine aircraft was found in heavily dense woods at 4 p.m. Monday in the Broad River area, about 10 miles south of Chester Catawba Regional Airport, Emergency Management Director Eddie Murphy has confirmed to the media.

Flight records show that the plane was heading to Clayton, Georgia from its take off point in Wilmington, North Carolina, but it never made it to its destination.

Authorities are still investigating details of the aircraft incident, and are yet to announce the identities of the two fatalities.

According to Lieutenant Robert McCullough, the plane had been missing since late Sunday night.

South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR) immediately dispatched search teams and spent the whole of Monday searching for the aircraft.

Local authorities said that DNR was tracking the plane and received intelligence that it was down in Chester County.  McCullough said that information suggested that it was a rental aircraft.

Investigators are yet to release more information on the case.
