‘Mirror Edge: Catalyst’ Prequel News: EA Announces Prequel Comic Titled ‘Mirror Edge: Exordium’ [VIDEO]

Electronic Arts (EA) and video game developer DICE have announced a prequel comic called 'Mirror Edge: Exordium' with a view to enthuse the fans. The prequel will narrate the story of the game's lead character Faith's origin. Dark Horse Comics will publish the mini-series comprising six issues. The first issue will come out in September, with the others arriving in the subsequent months.

According to IB Times, an announcement in this regard was made on Dark Horse Comics' official website. The company revealed its plans for the 'Mirror's Edge' prequel comic in addition to the people involved in the comic itself. The announcement said 'Mirror's Edge: Exordium' will be written by DICE narrative director Christofer Emgard and will present art from several artists, including Mattias Haggstrom, Henrik Sahlstrom, Robert Sammelin, and Erik Perrson.

The report states that fans, who could not play the original 'Mirror's Edge' for PlayStation 3, need not worry anymore, because the upcoming miniseries is expected to be reader-friendly. Meanwhile, Gamespot reports that the comics will serve as an introduction to the series in general, and perhaps this is the reason why the comic is concentrating on Faith's origin story. It seems that fans will see her transform from an irresponsible young girl to a heroine who revolutionizes everything.

For the uninitiated, Dark Horse Comics has brought out several comics that have formed the basis of many existing video games. In addition, the company has also handled a range of comic series based on 'Dragon Age' and 'Mass Effect' for EA as well as Bioware. Besides, Dark Horse also prints comics for 'Halo,' after the latter acquired the comic rights from Marvel some years back.

However, this is not the first time that a 'Mirror's Edge' comic is being released to correspond with the game's launch. Earlier, DC Comics released a six-issue comic series to accompany the first 'Mirror's Edge' game. However, it did not discuss Faith's origin. Rhianna Pratchett wrote the DC series, which featured art from Mathew Dow Smith.

In fact, gamers who are interested in 'Mirror's Edge: Catalyst' are also likely to get 'Mirror's Edge: Exordium' this September. Each issue will cost $3.99 and will be available in all leading comic book stores. As of now, there is no official release date for 'Mirror's Edge: Catalyst.'
