'Minecraft' Xbox One, PS4 Release Date Latest: Delayed to September 2014? Bug Fixing, New Certification Process

Fans have become disappointed as the upcoming release of 4J Studios' 'Minecraft' on PlayStation 4 has been officially postponed. The game was scheduled to release sometime this month, however in a recent Twitter post, 4J Studios wrote that Sony detected some problems with the PS4 version of the game and they are currently hard at work fixing the issues.

They also mentioned that the developers would be required to go through the certification process with Sony again, which means that the highly-anticipated title will surely be delayed.

As the certification process takes anywhere between one to two weeks, the chances of the release for 'Minecraft' on PS4 is extremely low for this month. In fact, 4J Studios sent the game for certification 8 days prior to Sony getting back to them with the negative answer. Hence, even if 4J removes all the bugs and sends 'Minecraft' on the same day that they received the negative response from Sony, there will still not be enough time to release the game by the end of August.

Therefore, in all likelihood, 'Minecraft' for PS4 will most likely be released sometime in September.

Simultaneously, 4J Studios will also need to submit 'Minecraft' for Xbox One and PS Vita for certification as well. Earlier in August, the developers confirmed that they were still working on fixing some bugs on both of these versions. Hence, the three new versions of the game are likely to be released in September.

Meanwhile, it is expected that 'Minecraft' on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will feature great draw distances and worlds that are 36 times larger when compared to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. In addition, the players will be able to save as well as import their worlds from 'Minecraft' for Xbox 360 and PS3 to the next-generation consoles Xbox One and PlayStation 4 together with a number of DLC packs. However, it is important to note that not all the DLCs will be available on the next-generation consoles.

Gamers owning 'Minecraft' on Xbox 360 or PS3 will also avail a discount provided they wish to buy the the game on Xbox One or PlayStation 4. Instead of paying the full price of $19.99, they will be required to pay only $4.99. This discount will last only for one year after the game is released on the next-generation consoles.
