Minecraft PS4, Xbox One Editions Release Date News: Sony & Microsoft Testing Passes With Flying Colors
'Minecraft' has been released for the PS4 since Thursday, Sept. 4 while the Xbox One version was released the day after, Friday, Sept. 5.
The PS4 version was released at 12:00 p.m. EST for $19.99, according to PlayStation Blog.
The blog teaser reads: "For those looking for the ultimate Minecraft experience, the PS4 Edition will feature worlds 36 times bigger than the ones you might be used to on the PS3 system. Existing players will be able to import PS3 saves to the PS4 Edition, allowing them to continue work on their immense structure or delve even deeper towards the Nether."
PlayStation Blog also said that they are "staying true to their promise" for those who bought the PS3 edition. They are offering a small fee for an upgrade.
"Well, we're happy to officially announce the upgrade option is available to any existing PS3 Edition owners for just $4.99!"
Meanwhile, the Xbox One version is also sold at $19.99.
However, there were a couple of setbacks with certifications on the consoles. As 'Minecraft' for PS4 was sent out to Sony for testing, developers and fans alike were hoping for some good news.
"#Minecraft PS4 is back with Sony for final testing. Fingers crossed..." 4J Studios tweeted.
Then, they went over to Microsoft for more tedious and expensive testing.
"We've handed Minecraft: Xbox One Edition over to Microsoft for final test! #MinecraftXbox1," 4J Studios said in yet another tweet.
All seems well as happy gamers got the chance to play 'Minecraft' on their next-gen platforms.
