'Minecraft' News Update: Fans Reassured by Mojang on Microsoft Deal
Microsoft has bought out Mojang, leaving 'Minecraft' fans worried about the fate of the game. However, Microsoft has reassured fans not to worry about the taking over.
In mid-September, a $1.5bn deal was closed which has lead Microsoft's take over of Mojang. However, Vu Bui, CEO of Mojang, said there were no future plans to alter the game or how people operate it.
"'Players' feedback will be important in assisting to advance the game,'" he said adding, "Nothing will change much, and obviously I cannot discuss the deal and I don't have the details, but the game is available."
Mojang had always strived to maintain the original features which made the game so famous in the first place, he said. "It is difficult to maintain the initial culture, which respects the users and enables them to do whatever they want with the game."
"It is our sole intention to continue with this,' he told BBC in an interview, "Mr Bui confirmed the deal was still being worked on but said Mojang intended to keep working together with its large society of players."
A lot of fans of this block building game have expressed concern about what will transpire when Microsoft takes over completely. The inventor of Minecraft, Markus Persson (Notch) has written about why he approached Microsoft and said he handed it over as it had become a challenge for him to run.
Vu Bui Mojang boss said that people become more creative when they are left to do whatever they want. He stated he cannot take responsibility for such a big thing, adding that it was nothing to do with the money, but keeping his sanity.
