Miley Cyrus News: 'Wrecking Ball' Singer's Major Donation at AmfAR Gala, Dress Shocks Fans

Miley Cyrus attended the recent AmfAR gala and turned many heads with her unusual and provocative dress. However, she also went ahead and submitted a massive donation, which caught a lot of attention as well.

Cyrus left little to the imagination with a provocative, "barely there" black Tom Ford dress during the event with a sheer top and sequined crisscrossed straps.

While there was a lot of money donated during the AmfAR gala, what particularly caught the attention of the attendees was Miley Cyrus' whopping $500,000 donation.

The Foundation for AIDS Reserch (amFAR) event was made in honor of fashion designer Tom Ford, as a way to raise funds for HIV/AIDS research.

In what seemed like a "competitive Hollywood sporting event," the "Wrecking Ball" singer reportedly bought a Ryan McGinley photo of a naked woman for $300,000, while fellow Viva Glam MAC Cosmetic endorser Rihanna bought a pair of Harry Winston earrings for $35,000.

Aside from the initial donation through the live auction, Cyrus gave another $200,000 to the charity, while Ford and Rihanna donated $100,000 each.

"The Viva Glam girls know how to roll," said John Demsey, MAC AIDS Fund Group President.

"I'm a little drunk, that's why I'm half a million deep," shared Cyrus on Wall Street Journal.

"I do this sort of thing sometimes. I like to start things up, to get it along, to get people excited," the singer explained.

In a more serious tone, Cyrus explained the reason behind the huge donation.

"If I'm going to have a voice I would like to start an open dialogue about prevention and awareness and how people in the world have been affected by HIV and AIDS," the 21-year old singer said in an interview with NY Daily News.

"I could break down people's walls that have been built up around sexuality," she added.
