Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth Break Up / 16 Month Engagement Over / "Wrecking Ball" Singer Wants to Focus on Career

After being engaged for 16 months, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have finally called it quits. After Miley's outrageously stupid VMA performance, it was only a matter of time before the young couple had to break up.

Good news for Liam Hemsworth? He isn't engaged to Miley Cyrus anymore!

Rumors have been circulating the Internet of a rift between The "Wrecking Ball" singer and the Hunger Games hunk, but nothing had been confirmed. Recently reps on both sides made it official, according to People magazine.

Who knows maybe they'll get back together. This isn't the first time they've broken up and reunited. Back when the couple first started dating, during production for The Last Song back in 2010, they temporarily split and got back together. They even got engaged in spring 2012.

But as with a lot of celebs, fame ruins the personal. Cheating rumors followed the couple wherever they went. Recently Hemsworth has been seen gallivanting around town with Ashley Greene [Twilight] and ex-flame and Mad Men starlet January Jones.

After Miley Cyrus' VMA 2013 duet with Robin Thicke, Hemsworth was asked how he felt about his fiancé's new image. Sources close to the Hunger Games star said he was embarrassed and that family and friends urged the actor to break it off with Cyrus.

Well, that's that.

Miley Cyrus is busy focusing on her "career" and has a new album Bangers, scheduled for an October 8 release date.

You can catch Hemsworth in the Hunger Games Catching Fire, in theaters November 22.
