Microsoft Surface Mini Release Date News, Rumors: Upcoming Windows 10 Based Device Launches 2014?
New reports state that Microsoft's Surface Mini will allegedly come out before the end of 2014. The gadget is reportedly paired with Windows 10, and there are ongoing speculations about the specifications of the new Microsoft device.
Rumor has it that Surface Mini may have an 8 to 10.1 inches display., and the processor may feature a Qualcomm or ARM chipset.
Aside from that, Surface Mini may feature excellent keyboard accessories. The set includes a chunk of free OneDrive cloud storage and a free copy of Office Home & 2013. Productivity is what Microsoft Surface tablets deliver.
A techie named Bradd Sams claimed that he has seen the device and shared how it looked like.
"The bezel size is large enough to have a full size Windows button, exactly like the Pro 3 at the bottom; at the top, there is a front facing camera with roughly the same size bezel," Sams said.
The Surface Mini was first reported to be released with the Surface Pro but that was not the case. Last May, speculations about the Surface Mini were heightened when Microsoft invited guests to a small gathering. It turned out, the event was organized to unveil the Surface Pro.
The rumor about the release of Surface Mini was fueled by the fact that Microsoft earned $908 million with the release of Surface Pro.
However, a recent statement from the company diminished the Surface Mini rumors.
The company said: "Current year cost of revenue included Surface inventory adjustments resulting from our transition to newer generation devices and a decision to not ship a new form factor."
Aside from cost cutting, one probable factor that keeps the company from releasing Surface Mini is competition. Apple has released iPad mini, iPad mini 2 with Retina, and iPad mini 3 tablets, which run Microsoft's capable Office for iPad suite. With this in mind, Microsoft may have to decide whether to focus on productivity or other strengths such as gaming and entertainment.
As it stands, the rumors about the release of the upcoming device have not been confirmed, but techies are surely hoping to hear some good news about it soon.
