Microsoft Lumia 940 Features & Release Date News: Specs of Lumia 940 XL Leaked

While there is a lot of speculation and rumors regarding the features and release date of Microsoft's upcoming premium devices, which have been dubbed as Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL, the Redmond-based tech titan continues to remain mum on them. However, this has not deterred tech enthusiasts from leaking every minute detail regarding the two devices.

Quoting earlier reports, IB Times says that the Microsoft Lumia 940 as well as the Lumia 940 XL is likely to be released during the fourth quarter of this year. Earlier, rumors claimed that the two devices would be unveiled in April, but that did not happen.

Recently citing its sources, NokiaPowerUser has leaked some of the specifications of the larger version of the handsets - the Lumia 940 XL. The publication claimed that the Lumia 940 XL will have a slim design with a metallic unibody frame. In addition, the device will sport a 5.7-inch screen with 2560 x 1440 resolution display. It is also expected to be powered by Octa-Core Snapdragon 810 processor paired with Adreno 430 GPU, and be packed with 32 GB internal memory with microSD card slot in addition to 3 GB RAM.

The NokiaPowerUser report also asserted that the Microsoft Lumia 940 XL will house a 20 MP main camera with PureView, Short Pulse variable-tone LED Flash, in addition to a 5 MP front-facing snapper for taking selfies. The much anticipated device will also incorporated other features such as an is scanner, USB Type-C & Dual-Role support, Native Pen support, as well as continuum for Phones support.

Meanwhile, WinFuture reported that the design of Lumia 940 would be similar to that of the Lumia 830 with an aluminum frame and polycarbonate back. The website further claimed that the device will house a 3,000mAh battery, sport a 5.2-inch QHD screen with 1440 x 2560px, and may possibly be powered by Snapdragon 808 processor. On the other hand, the Lumia 940 XL version may sport a 5.7-inch screen, be powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor, and house a 3,300mAh battery.
