Microsoft ‘Hassle-Free’ Wi-Fi News: Online Leak Reveals New Service for Windows, Android, & iOS Devices

If a recent online leak is to be believed, Microsoft has been continuing with its endeavor to offer a cross-platform service utilizing the Wi-Fi network. The details of the service leaked reveal that the Redmond-based tech titan is aiming to serve the most popular operating systems, including Windows, Android and iOS.

According to Latin Post, a Twitter user h0x0d was the first to stumble upon information relating to the upcoming Microsoft Wi-Fi on microsoftwifi.com. According to the description posted on the website, the service aspires to offer "hassle-free Internet access around the world" to allow users to be "productive on the go."

However, Microsoft has now removed the post from the Internet and when accessed, the website now only shows a "Coming Soon" post.

Recently Venture Beat spoke to a Microsoft representative with a view to make clear if there will be an forthcoming offering from the tech company.

In response, the representative of the Redmond-based tech firm revealed, "We can confirm that we are working on a new service, called Microsoft WiFi, which will bring hassle-free Wi-Fi to millions." The representative added, "We look forward to sharing additional detail when available."

On the basis of the blurb posted on the site when it was still active, it can be said that when available the Wi-Fi service will allow users to connect with a service provider irrespective of his location in the world.

The advertisement pertaining to the service read, "Don't waste time filling forms with personal information or managing different carriers to get connected. Sign in once and you are done: you will automatically be connected to a vast range of WiFi providers around the world."

Although not much detail was available from the website, it has been learned that apart from Windows, the service will also be available to Android and iOS devices. The site had provided the downloadable app links for Windows, Android, iOS, Mac and Windows Phone before it was taken down.

Incidentally, this move by Microsoft coincides with the company's plan to be available in multiple operating systems with a view to seize a bigger market. Cortana, a voice digital assistant feature in the soon-to-be released Windows 10, is the first service from the company to offer cross-platform accessibility.

While it appears that the Microsoft Wi-Fi is targeting everyone to use its service, initially, it will not be available to all. In order to avail the service, a user will have to be "eligible" to use the app, the site mentioned. However, it did not provide any information regarding the qualifications and requirements.
