Michael Schumacher Condition Update Latest: Corinna Schumacher to Husband’s Fans: ‘Your Sympathy Blew Us All Away’
Corinna Schumacher, wife of famous F1 driver Michael Schumacher, thanked fans for their support following her husband's accident.
Corinna wrote a letter addressed to fans ahead of the Grand Prix at Hockenheim over the weekend. She thanked them for their continued support and for their good wishes for her husband.
She wrote that the message was for all those who have supported her husband on and off the track.
"The German Grand Prix gives me the perfect opportunity to cordially thank you for all your good wishes and positive energies you keep sending Michael. I have to say your sympathy blew us all away! Good to know that together we made it through the hardest time," she said in the letter, according to Independent.
She also revealed in the letter that experts who have seen her husband's condition have told her that his recovery may not be the quickest.
"Now we are facing a phase which will presumably take a long time," Corinna Schumacher continued, "We trust that time will be Michael's ally in this fight. Until then I would like to wish you and your families all the best as well."
Michael Schumacher, the 45-year-old seven-time F1 champion and one of Germany's sporting heroes, suffered serious head injuries following a skiing accident in the French resort, Meribel, in December.
Doctors had to put Schumacher into a six-month medically-induced coma to prevent his brain from sustaining any unnecessary pressure.
Sabine Kehm, Schumacher's agent, said in June that the F1 driver was taken out of the induced coma and was transferred to University Hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland, from the French hospital in Grenoble.
The driver is not able to talk, but reports said that he communicated by nodding during the transfer, according to the Telegraph.
