Michael Schumacher's Teenage Son Announces His Father is ‘Waking Up Very Slowly’

Mick Schumacher, Michael Schumacher's teenage son, recently revealed to French F1 commentator Jean-Louis Moncet that his father is 'waking up very slowly.'

Jean-Louis Moncet spoke to the young Schumacher at their Swiss home, where the 7-time world champion is currently recovering. Mick said that the recovery has been "very slow," but assures that the former F1 driver has "a lot of time" to do so.

Moncet, 69, has shed a new light on the skiing accident in the French Alps on Dec. 29 that led the 45-year-old driver to have to be in a medically-induced coma.

"The problem for Michael was not the hit, but the mounting of the GoPro camera," the French F1 commentator said, "He had on his helmet that injured his brain."

Although Professor Jean-Francois Payen from the Grenoble hospital said that Schumacher's helmet protected him from the impact which could have saved his life, Moncet claimed that the GoPro camera was "part of the problem."

Moncet has since said that it was just his opinion regarding the GoPro, as he took to Twitter to clarify that he was not officially reporting confirmed news about Schumacher.

Despite the commentator's statements, GoPro's shares have plummeted on Oct. 14 as investors have not taken the comments lightly. The portable camera manufacturer's shares fell 16 percent in New York trading.

A source at GoPro said that the company is considering legal action regarding the accusations, noting negligence and damaging to investors.

ENSA, the world-renowned ski and climbing academy in the French ski resort of Chamonix, has conducted tests on whether the camera played a part in compromising the helmet's structure.

Schumacher's manager, Sabine Kehm, said that the driver's facing a "long and difficult" road ahead, while updates about on his condition have been few and far apart.
