Michael Schumacher Condition Latest News: Leaves Hospital for Home
Legendary F1 race car driver Michael Schumacher leaves hospital and heads home for the first time since his skiing accident in December, 2013.
Schumacher's manager, Sabine Kehm, announced the news yesterday, but added that the former Ferrari driver still has to face a long road ahead to his recovery. Kehm also pleaded for the Schumacher family's privacy and asked that speculation and assumptions about his health be avoided.
The Formula One legend was put into a medically induced coma shortly after his accident, he only awoke from it recently, in June.
Consequently, the F1 icon was moved from the University Hospital in Grenoble to a clinic in Lausanne near his home. Schumacher stayed at the said medical facility for three months, and now he's on his way home for the first time in a long time.
Although representatives for the F1 driver have stated that Schumacher has shown significant improvement since his accident last year, Schumacher's family has always kept details about his health condition private. The latest press release by Sabine Kehm was no different.
Meanwhile, a man charged with stealing Schumacher's medical records was found hanged in his prison cell, according to the Swiss police. The accused was part of the medical team that was responsible for overseeing the transfer of Schumacher to the University Hospital in Grenoble via ambulance last year.
European media had previously reported that the suspect had been trying to sell Schumacher's confidential health records to the European press for €60,000; while the legendary driver's family threatened to press charges to anyone found involved in the trading, selling, or publishing of any of Schumacher's private medical records.
No media publication seems to have violated the F1 driver's right to medical confidentiality thus far.
