Michael Schumacher Coma Condition: Update Questioned, Vettel Gets Emotional

Four-time Formula One Champion and Red Bull racing motorist Sebastian Vettel is still very emotional talking about his close friend Michael Schumacher going into a drug-induced coma after he suffered brain damage in a skiing accident on December 29, 2013 at the French Alps resort of Meribel.

"It's hard for me to talk about it. I'm still shocked. Michael's accident shows how quickly things can change," said Vettel to German news magazine Focus in a recent interview.

Schumacher is still reportedly in a coma after he suffered severe head injuries after the ski catastrophe five months ago. Since then his agent Sabine Kehm has been giving updates to various news outlets regarding her client's serious injuries.

"There are short moments of consciousness and he is showing small signs of progress," said Kehm to the Daily Telegraph. "There are moments when he is awake and moments when he is conscious."

She also cautioned well-wishers that she is not an expert when it comes medical issues regarding the Seven-time Formula One (F1) World Champion.

"Of course I am not a doctor, but medically, there is a distinction between being awake and being conscious, the latter meaning there is an ability to interact with his surroundings. I don't want to disclose details out of respect for the family, but we have no doubt at all in the abilities of the doctors treating Michael, they are experts in their field," said Kehm.

Previously, Kehm reportedly told CNN last month about her client's status.

"Michael is making progress on his way," said Kehm, according to a CNN report on April 4. "He shows moments of consciousness and awakening. We are on his side during his long and difficult fight, together with the team of the hospital in Grenoble, and we keep remaining confident."

Now Kehm hopes that her client can make a speedy recovery soon so he and his wife Corinna can move on with the rest of their lives in private.

"Our plan and our desire would be that from the moment in which Michael can go into a rehab clinic, this media coverage will stop," Kehm to ARD Television, according to Auto123.com. "Michael Schumacher is in a coma and cannot decide what is reported about him...We, of course, know how he deals with such things and try in his interest to handle these matters for him."
