Michael Schumacher Coma Condition: Update Proven False - F1 Driver Is Not ‘Conscious’
Former Formula 1 Champion Michael Schumacher remains in coma 90 days after an horrific skiing accident in France in December 2013. In a new update Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm has been forced to come out to deny rumors that the ex-F1 champ was now conscious after rumors had spread over the recent week that he was showing "moments of consciousness" and "signs of progress".
Bild journalist Nicola Pohl reported that previous news about Schumacher waking up and even recognizing his wife, were not true and had not been confirmed by doctors.
In one of her media interviews, manager Sabine Kehm said, "Of course I am not a doctor, but medically, there is a distinction between being awake and being conscious, the latter meaning there is an ability to interact with his surroundings."
"No, it's NOT true! Schumacher awake? Sorry, but those Rumors from Spain apparently not true. Kehm just texted me she hadn't confirmed anything to RTL," Pohl wrote in her Twitter account.
However, Kehm and Schumacher's family remain confident that the famed Formula One athlete will be able to overcome his condition and totally recover.
She added, "We will fight for Schumi together with the team of doctors who we trust."
Kehm also expressed disappointment over inaccurate reports on Schumacher's accident and coma condition, especially statements from doctors who are not involved in the case.
"What upsets the family most is media quoting doctors who are not treating Michael and untruths are constructed from these. It has been a problem when outsiders comment and it means we have to set the record straight, even when we don't want to."
