Michael Schumacher Coma Condition Update: Latest Rumors of F1 Driver Awaking Are Dismissed

Even as the retired 45-year-old German racing driver Michael Schumacher lies in a coma, there are reports that a motorcyclist in Spain is suing the seven time Formula One champion over a road mishap last year. The shocking news came amid another report that Schumacher had woken up from his coma - however, those claims have since been dismissed as false.

Recent reports claim that Schumacher is being charged with knocking down a biker from his vehicle in Spain, some weeks prior to the legendary racing driver injuring himself while skiing in the French Alps resort of Meribel in December 2013. That accident has seen him suffer serious brain injuries and he has been in a coma for months.

In his law suit, the anonymous biker has accused Schumacher of not giving him access while passing a roundabout in Bormujos near Seville. The biker has claimed that he broke his wrist in the accident. In addition to Schumacher, the car rental agency, which rented an Audi to the racing champion during his stay in Spain, has also been added to the lawsuit.

Meanwhile, Russia Today, quoted Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm as saying that the ace racing driver had recently woken from his coma and was even able to identify his wife Corinna Betsch.

Nicola Pohl, a Bild journalist, however, tweeted that the report was erroneous. She said, "Schumacher awake? Sorry, but those rumors from Spain apparently not true. Kehm just texted me she hadn't confirmed anything to RTL."

Earlier this month, there was another report that the former Formula One champion was showing "small signs of consciousness," almost four months after he was placed in a medically induced coma. The Telegraph quoted Kehm as saying, "There are moments when he is awake and moments when he is conscious."

At that time, Khem said, "Of course I am not a doctor, but medically, there is a distinction between being awake and being conscious, the latter meaning there is an ability to interact with his surroundings," adding, "I don't want to disclose details out of respect for the family, but we have no doubt at all in the abilities of the doctors treating Michael, they are experts in their field."
