Michael Schumacher Coma Condition Update: Is F1 Driver Awake From Coma, Remembering Wife Corinna? Conflicting Reports Emerge

Seven-time Formula One (F1) World Champion Michael Schumacher has reportedly awoken from his coma and has recognized his wife Corinna, according to new reports.

According to a report by RT, Schumacher's agent Sabine Kehm claimed that his client is no longer in a comatose state. In addition, a CNN report quotes Kehm saying the very same thing previously.

"Michael is making progress on his way," said Kehm, according to a CNN report on April 4. "He shows moments of consciousness and awakening. We are on his side during his long and difficult fight, together with the team of the hospital in Grenoble, and we keep remaining confident."

However, Nicola Pohl, a journalist for the German magazine Bild, disagrees with the claims that the former racer has awaken from his coma.

"Schumacher awake? Sorry, but those rumors from Spain apparently not true. Kehm just texted me she hadn't confirmed anything to RTL," wrote Pohl on Twitter. "No, it's NOT true!"

"There are moments when he is awake and moments when he is conscious, which make us happy and give us great courage. Of course I am not a doctor, but medically, there is a distinction between being awake and being conscious, the latter meaning there is an ability to interact with his surroundings," said Kehm to German reporters, according to The Epoch Times. "I don't want to disclose details out of respect for the family, but we have no doubt at all in the abilities of the doctors treating Michael, they are experts in their field."

Schumacher went into a drug-induced coma after he suffered brain damage in a skiing accident on December 29, 2013 at the French Alps resort of Meribel.
