Miami Heat vs San Antonio Spurs, Game 4: Lebron Says "I Will Put The Team On My Shoulders" on ABC
If the Miami Heat have any heart in them, the last 48 hours since the Game 3 beat down they received has probably seemed like 2 weeks.
A competitor would not be able to wait and make up for a poor performance and lets hope that the Heat can bring some fight tonight and make it a great game.
The 36 point loss on Tuesday night was the largest loss for the Heat in the NBA Finals and the 3rd largest NBA Finals defeat ever.
Lebron James has been putting up good all around numbers, but has not seemed nearly aggressive enough on the offensive end in the first three games. He has not hit 20 points in any game yet, while he averaged just under 30 points per game in the regular season. Also, more telling is that the 6' 8'' 280 pound beast that is James has only shot 6 free throws in the first three games with 0 in Game 3. That is just crazy and cannot continue if the Heat want to stay in the series.
Lebron awknowledged during Wednesday practice that he needs to play better. "I will do whatever I need to do", Lebron said.
The Spurs defensive game plan has worked out perfect to this point, crowding the paint and forcing Lebron to either shoot jumpers or make him a passer. James is one of the best passers in the league and he is definitely more of a Magic than a Michael, but there still comes a point where you have to be aggressive on offensive.
Steve Nash was always a great example of being a distributor all game but when the game was on the line, he was never afraid to put the offensive load on his shoulders or take the big shot, he embraced that challenge.
In fairness, Dwyane Wade has been hobbled and Chris Bosh has not played at an All-Star level, however, none of the Spurs Big 3 had good games in Game 3 either but their defense and bench play of Gary Neal and also Danny Green blew the game open with their shooting.
Moving forward, the health of Tony Parker, who suffered a hamstring strain, will be huge to see how he can play and run the Spurs for Game 4. Some are saying if he is not healthy to rest him for Game 5 and take their chances with reserves and some are saying that if they can get up 3-1 with even a hobbled Tony Parker, that would basically seal the series for the Spurs.
A lot to look forward to in the game tonight to see who responds.
Game 4 is tonight on ABC at 8pm CST.
