Miami Heat Need Greg Oden for 3-Peat Dynasty? Is Erik Spoelstra Most Underrated Coach in NBA?
Ok so we've all heard the rumors about Greg Oden possibly going to the Miami Heat in the offseason. Sure it would give them some much needed big man presence in the paint, especially given the not-so "big" showing from Chris Bosh in the 2013 postseason.
But will Oden be the final piece for a Heat team verging on a dynasty? Possibly.
But many people underestimate vital factors about this Heat team. Sure it's easy to be distracted and overlook a few things when you have Dwayne Wade quarterbacking passes to LeBron James from mid-court and well, Chris "Birdman" Andersen's hair and tattoos giving you a seizure 10 minutes a game.
But isn't Erik Spoelstra one of the most underrated pieces of the highest rated team in the NBA. He lead the Big 3 to some of their highest PPG averages of their careers. That's not an easy feat for any coach, especially one getting pressure from above with Pat Riley, and from below, the best player in the NBA, LeBron James.
Spoelstra has found a way to motivate and lead this team through thick and thin. During a Game 7 run against the Boston Celtics in the 2012 Eastern Conference Championship, Spoelstra found a way to get LeBron James' best game out of him when the team needed it most. The path to the 2013 NBA Finals was even tougher going to 6 against a physical Pacers team and an epic 7 game series against the battle-born San Antonio Spurs, who are under arguably the league's best supervisor, Gregg Popovich.
Sure it's the players that get the glory, but let's give a round for Erik Spoelstra.
