Miami Heat Chasing History: Extend Win Streak to 24?

The Miami Heat have not lost an NBA game in nearly two months.

Tonight they win their 24th game in a row against Lebron James old squad the Cleveland Cavaliers in Cleveland.  It was a nail biter in Cleveland, with the Cavs blowing a 26 point lead in the third quarter to let the Heat squeak out the win by 3.  Lebron James ended up with another triple-double including 25 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists.

With the Heat's last win (23), they passed the Houston Rockets for the second longest winning streak in the NBA.   They are now only chasing the Los Angeles Lakers streak of 33 straight wins in the 1971-1972 season.

Since Lebron James decided to "take his talents to South Beach" 3 seasons ago, the Heat have been the most compelling and polarizing team in the NBA.  Along with James, the Heat aquired All-Star Chris Bosh from the Toronto Raptors to team up with super star Dawyne Wade who has played with the Heat his whole career.

In their first year together as the "Big 3" in 2010-2011, the Heat made it to the NBA Finals and but ended up losing to the Dallas Mavericks.  Last season, the Heat and esppecially Lebron James, had the weight of the NBA world on them to come through in the clutch and win the championship.  The Heat did just that and beat the Oklahoma City Thunder and their young stars of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

This season, the Heat are again the favorite to win the NBA title with all of their star players back and along with the addition of role players like Ray Allen.  The Heat have been known for sometimes coasting in the regular season and losing a bad game here and there and tightening their game up "when it matters" in the playoffs.  So even with all of their talent, it is somewhat a surprise that the Heat have made it this long in the streak.
