MGMT New Self-Titled Album Release Date Set for September 17th, 2013 Up for Early Stream [LIVE VIDEO]
The long-awaited self-titled new album from MGMT is up for early stream prior to its September 17th, 2013 release date. This new album is highly anticipated after their sophomore effort fell short of the critics' expectations. The cover of the new album depicts the band sitting in front of a thrift store with a small logo that says "MGMT" in the top left corner. The band has stated that they drew heavily from their R.E.M. influences for their self-titled album. Fans can certainly expect to hear their newest single "Alien Days" on the new album, which was first released via audio cassette on April 20th, 2013 for Record Store Day.
The self-titled album is reportedly being streamed on Rdio but so far it is hard to say if the stream will build hype for the actual release on September 17th, or if it will detract from the initial impact. Either way, critics are responding well the new album so far and MGMT should achieve commercial and critical success with their new self-titled album.
