MGMT New Record 2013: "MGMT" Confirmed for September 17 Release Date / Tracklist, North American Tour Dates Added

Alright MGMT fans! It's been a few years since the band's psych-pop odyssey, and sophomore album Congratulations, the Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser are back with their third studio album self-titled MGMT.

The duo confirmed a release date scheduled for September 17th.

MGMT will reunite the duo with Flaming Lips producer Dave Friedman, who also produced their first record Oracular Spectcular. MGMT has warned fans from expecting the same catchy electronic hits from their debut.

"We're not trying to make music that everyone understands the first time they hear it," Goldwasser told Rolling Stone.

60s psychedelia has been cited as a major influence for the new record.

The band is even covering "Introspection", by Fain Jade.
