Mexico advanced to the knockout round of the FIFA World Cup being undefeated after their victories against Cameroon, Brazil, and Chile respectively. Mexico finished in second place behind Brazil in Group A with seven points after the squad defeated Croatia by 3-1 in their final Group match on Monday.

"They are youngsters, like me, that were starting out when I was there (in the Netherlands from 2008 to June 2011], that have grown and become known under Van Gaal, who supports youngsters a lot," said Hector Moreno to reporters in reference to his squad's upcoming match up with the Netherlands.

The Netherlands are looking to upset Mexico when the two sides face off this weekend. Netherlands finished in first place in the Group B standings with nine points following their 2-0 victory against Jean Beausejour and his squad from Chile.

"It was a match of the highest quality. We limited Chile to a handful of opportunities, we neutralized them extremely effectively - and particularly in the second half we created more chances. We did have to change our style today - and I will always pick a system and a strategy that will help us win. However, we're not perfect - in possession we still need to improve, but I do think we're very good without the ball. As for my substitutions, they are down knowledge of the players and the opposition, but they're impact is down to luck!," said Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal to reporters after the game.
