Metta World Peace gets dropped by Lakers because of Amnesty Agreement; Picks up Nick Young and leaves Metta looking for a new 9-5

Metta World Peace, the controversial man who is sometimes loved, sometimes hated, has been waived by the Los Angeles Lakers in a cost-saving move to sign Nick Young for 1.2 million dollars. Meta, at age 33, is now considered a veteran, after 14 years in the league. Meta's cut was most likely accredited to a salary cap issue, in which teams either have to cut the salaries of top players or cut mid-range players out of the team all together.

Young, the Laker's consolation prize, is only 3 years younger than Metta.

The Los Angeles Laker's General Manager, Mitch Kupchak said in a statement about the choice to pick up Young, "at 6'7'', nick's size, ability to create his own shot and athleticism makes him a versatile player who will give our lineup multiple looks on the floor. He's an exciting player, and we're excited to have him on our roster." Young signed a one-year deal with the Lakers that will likely result in an extension.

Meta joined the Lakers in 2009 and has also played for the Rockets, Kings, Pacers, and Bulls. Although there is still hope that he will be picked up by another NBA team, Meta is also considering going overseas to play.

Meta recently tweeted, "I'm going to play for Yao Mings team in china! I can't wait to arrive in Shanghai !!"

In a statement, Kupchak said, "It's tough to say goodbye to a player such as Metta, who has been a significant part four team the past four seasons...it's impossible not love him.

Metta's tweets have left fans guessing. He's said everything from retirement, to an extension with the Lakers, to playing overseas, and capped it off with, "Do ya'l believe everything I say".

If all else fails, he said via twitter, "I have to work at Saladish in Pasadena. As a server". We seriously doubt Metta will be serving anytime soon, but wish our best to the NBA superstar.
