'Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pains' Release Date Accidentally Leaked

Much to the delight of 'Metal Gear' fans, the new game in the series, 'Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pains' has had its release date recently leaked. Previously, Hideo Kojima, the creator of the game series, only hinted that the title would get an early 2015 release, but never revealed an exact date.

A major news site, The Guardian, posted an interview with Kojima in which he spoke about the game. At the end of the article, Kojima told the interviewer the exact release date of the title. Originally, the site wrote, "Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain is due out on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on March 17, 2015."

That date was then reportedly changed to "early 2015", according to Loadthegame.com. However, the swap was not fast enough for one Reddit user who captured a screenshot of the original article sans edit.

The editor of the article later said that the error was a "subbing mistake," and that the given date was a place holder, which was accidentally posted.

If the release date holds true, then 'MGS: Phantom Pain' would be coming out approximately a year after the last game, 'Ground Zeroes'. Konami could still tweak the release date slightly to cover up the leak, but the "early 2015" release is still true so fans might want to take the news lightly and refrain from crossing out the date on the calendar, just in case.

Even so, if Konami decides to push through with the March 17 release date, then they won't be seeing any competition because no other games are currently scheduled for launch around that time.
