Mentally Disturbed Homeless Man Testifies 'I've Been Healed By the Power of Jesus Christ' - Now Ministry Leader Who Helps Others

A homeless man in India who used to yell and throw stones at people is now a changed man, thanks to his newfound faith in Jesus Christ.

It all started when Pastor Paul saw the distressed man named John in the streets of Lucknow, India. Paul says he was moved by God to help the stranger and invited him to stay at the Mercy Home. Pastor Paul created the Mercy Home outreach to help people suffering from mental problems.

"When we first met John he was very violent and threw stones at people he met. The local police and two students had to help me bring John to the Mercy Home," said Pastor Paul in a statement.

John did not speak to anyone for many months when he went to Mercy House. In addition, he did not want to change his clothing or to clean himself. Paul's wife Bincy then discovered why John acted the way he did and she showed the troubled man some compassion.

"John was rejected all his life, never loved, and never cared for. There was only darkness...John still doesn't remember his past or his family" said Bincy in a statement. "We prayed for him, cared for him, and loved him, and John began to respond."

Bincy recalled the amazing thing that happened after John accepted Jesus Christ as his savior.

"After his conversion to Christ, he began to absorb the Scripture like a sponge. He reads and remembers God's Word. He has given his life to Jesus and wants to serve the Kingdom. His restoration is complete," said Bincy in a statement.

John expressed his gratitude to all the people who helped in his time of need, especially Pastor Paul.

"The Lord has healed me, I want to thank Pastor Paul for bringing me to Mercy Home. For the first time in my life, someone cares and loves me. I can now see light and hope for the future," said John in a statement.

Empart USA President Brian Lockhart runs a company that creates Christian churches in Asia. He talked about John's transformation from a man who used to "[Recoil] from any touch, rejecting those trying to love him" to a man who is now a ministry leader that helps other people.

"John's story is a wonderful example of God's love in action, how God brings light in the midst of darkness," said Lockhart in a report. "It is resurrection life that enabled John to overcome the power and control evil had over him. Resurrection life invaded John's body, soul, and spirit making him not only a new creation but the essence of the righteousness of God."
