Las Vegas, Nevada - The global boxing industry is once again graced by another historical event as Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana face off at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to battle for the WBC and WBA Welterweight title. The Moment will start on May 3 from 5:30 p.m. EST, with the main PPV fight card bill of four major fights beginning at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can choose to watch on Showtime PPV on TV or through online live streaming and uninterrupted Pay-Per-View subscriptions.

The scales are in and both men have passed the 147-pound weight limit. Mayweather, recognized by some as the best pound for pound boxer in the world has a perfect record of 46-0 in entire career. It is a massive challenge for the Argentinean Maidana who currently holds 35 wins (31 knockouts, 4 decisions) and 3 losses.

The Grand Rapids native is seven years older than Maidana, who is the current WBA Welterweight title holder. Although he is confident he will win, boxing analysts say that Maidana's fist, which is three times larger than Tyson's circumference would definitely make a significant difference.

Mayweather has said, "I love accomplishing certain things; that is my legacy. But I don't go on about winning belts. I want to be impressive and put on a good show."

Mayweather continues to be in control not only in his life and career but also in the sport. He is probably the busiest boxing professional in this generation juggling different roles as a boxer, businessman, promoter, entertainer, not to mention the time he spent in rehab.

Mayweather, current WBC Welterweight title holder, gets the larger share of the winning purse at $32 million, while Maidana will go home with $1.5 million. 

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer emphasized that Maidana's earning figure will actually be significantly larger as the $1.5 million figure does not include pay per views from Argentinean networks and other sources, which he will receive separately.

"He has all of these other revenues. It's just like when Manny Pacquiao's purse [is listed with the commission] as $6 million dollars. He has Filipino TV rights, he has pay-per-view and so on, and it's the same thing here with Maidana," he added.
