The Atlanta Falcons and former Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan just reached an agreement on a five-year contract worth over a reported $100 million, according to ESPN insider Chris Mortensen.

After the contract extension is finalized, Ryan will be on pace to make $63 million over the first three years of the contract. Out of the $103.75 million total, Ryan is guaranteed $59 million.

In his first five NFL seasons as a starting quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons, Ryan has only missed one of his 78 regular season games.

With TE and slot/redzone target Tony Gonzalez holding off retirement to come back for another season and signing Steven Jackson to fill a big void in the backfield, the Atlanta Falcons are poised to outdo their success from last year.

In terms of contract rankings in the NFL [depending on the parameters] Ryan has the second best contract among active QBs.

His $20.75 million yearly average is more than Ravens QB Joe Flacco's $20.1 million and just under Packers QB Aaron Rodgers' $22 million. Any way you look at it, it's a good day to be Matt Ryan.
