Being the star quarterback for the USC Trojans is an honor for Matt Barkley. Several of the last few starting quarterbacks before him: Mark Sanchez, Matt Leinart, and Carson Palmer, all established a presence in the NFL. He recently joined the professional ranks and high expectations rest on his shoulders.

The Philadelphia Eagles took Barkley after falling out of the first 3 rounds. Several scouts questioned Barkley's arm strength which gives him another obstacle to overcome in the NFL. 

While quarterback at the University of Southern California, Barkley had a platform in which the spotlight was shining on his every move, including his faith in Christ. A faith that has been keeping him at the school in the wake of a coaching change, NCAA sanctions against the school, and the temptations of the NFL. A growing faith that is making a difference at his school and in the lives of others.

This organization started, bottom line, because everyone is in need of help. Everyone has different addictions, bad habits and hurtful tendencies that are in need of change.  'I Am Second' wants to shed the light on our pains to not only show that everyone struggles, but to also point to the one who we can lean on in those times (and in all times), God. Life is hard, and trying to control everything and everyone in your life is only going to wear you down and defeat you. 

'I Am Second' started to give positive hope and change.  Not only do they have the website with dozens of interviews from famous athletes and celebrities, but they encourage people to get involved where ever they are at. On their website there are opportunities to volunteer, start up or join a community group or even to help people recover from serious addictions. Remembering to put God first, means that "I Am Second". They have found that it is the best way to live and maybe you will too.
