‘Masters Of Sex’ Season 3 Renewal News: Canceled or Renewed? Showtime Series Closes Season 2 With ‘The Revolution Will Not Be Televised’

Showtime's 'Masters of Sex' ends its second season with a finale entitled "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised." Season 2 of the popular time period drama series came to an end on Sunday, September 29.

Reports say that the finale focused on Masters and Johnson publicly declaring the results of their study. There were several preview videos revealed for the episode, and the videos implied that the finale would be filled with drama.

In one of the teasers, Virginia was seen being ticked off, and then crying her eyes out.

In addition to this, another trailer shows Dr. William Masters conversing with a client and discussing the importance of sex in a romantic relationship.

"A relationship without sex? Sex is as basic as breathing, eating. Your entire being will eventually rebel," said Masters.

On that note, 'Masters of Sex' will not be gone for long, since the show has been confirmed to come back for a Season 3

'Masters of Sex', along with another Showtime series, was renewed for a 12-episode third season.

"Both 'Ray Donovan' and 'Masters of Sex' are quintessentially Showtime: bold, provocative, premium television with production values at the top of the food chain. These acclaimed shows are filled with complex and interesting characters and settings that will no doubt give audiences compelling television to invest in for seasons to come," said Showtime President David Nevins in a press statement.

There are still no plot spoilers or other insight for the upcoming season of 'Masters of Sex', but show creator Ryan McGee mentioned that Allison Janney and Beau Bridges might be making a comeback.

"With our show, once people come in, they're never going to leave. They may go away for a bit, but they will always circle back. The perfect example is Annaleigh [Ashford, who plays Betty DiMello], who was in three episodes in Season 1 and then [returned for Season 2]. It's really clear to me that we're never going to let people go, and certainly not Allison and Beau. We have so much more to tell with them and they're so game to come back" McGee told Huffington Post.

The finale episode of the second season of 'Masters of Sex' aired Sept. 28 on Showtime.
