Mark Ruffalo and Rachel McAdams Star in 'Spotlight' Movie About Boston Globe Catholic Church Scandal in 2002 (VIDEO)

'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Mark Ruffalo and 'The Notebook' Rachel McAdams will both star in a movie titled 'Spotlight', regarding the child abuse scandal that linked some of the Roman Catholic priests to wrongdoing in Boston.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will be about Cardinal Bernard Law allegedly hiding evidence of his immoral sexually abuse on little boys in the popular Massachusetts town for many decades.

The abuse was made public by a report from Boston Globe, where the newspaper company revealed that their yearlong investigation showed Cardinal Law reporting the Catholic priests that were committing sinful acts on little boys to the Boston authorities. He send the rogue pedophile priests to another parish in order to prevent anyone from finding out about the heinous crimes against humanity.

Along with Ruffalo and McAdams, the star studded cast includes 'Batman Returns' actor Michael Keaton (Walter Robinson) and 'The Devil Wears Prada' actor Stanley Tucci in the drama film created by director Tom McCarthy.

Ruffalo (reporter Mike Rezendes) and McAdams (Sacha Pfeiffer) are both playing the journalists who discovered Law's deception that lead to Law's stepping down from his longtime position of influence. Approximately 500 people filed claims saying 150 priests sexually abused little kids under Law's leadership for decades.

One report claims that one Catholic priest sexually abused seven different boys who belonged to the same family.

As a result of the shocking Boston Globe, the reporting team won the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service 11 years ago "for its courageous, comprehensive coverage of sexual abuse by priests, an effort that pierced secrecy; stirred local, national and international reaction; and produced changes in the Roman Catholic Church," according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter.

"I'm totally flattered to possibly be played by someone way more stylish and glamorous than I'll ever be," wrote ex-Boston Globe's writer Sacha Pfeiffer in reference to McAdams being cast to play as her in the upcoming film.
