Mario Kart 8 Release Date: Announcement Confirms New Characters, Features
Nintendo has revealed a host of details regarding the characters and items of Mario Kart 8 in an out of the blue "Nintendo Direct" - just a month prior to the game's release date.
According to reports, the game is ready and is scheduled for a May 30 release on Wii U. New reports say that the game is rich in stunning HD graphics, inventive concepts and news tracks with the familiar Mario Kart fun at its core.
With the communication from Nintendo on April 30, the prospect of the game's release seems even better. Nintendo has announced that it will offer a free game promo for everyone who registers for a Mario Kart 8 copy on the Club Nintendo website. When fans register on this website, they will automatically receive a code for a free download of any one of its 10 games, including Pikmin 3, Mario Bros., Wii Party and Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.
Nintendo has also incorporated a new item called the 'Super Horn.' According to the announcement on 'Nintendo Direct," the new Super Horn literally bowls over all the other items. The announcement says, "Sounding the Super Horn issues forth a sonic shock wave that blasts away everything in the vicinity, including other drivers, Red Shells and even Spiny Shells."
The Crazy Eight is one more new item offered by Nintendo. Mario Kart 8 launches the Crazy Eight, a spin of eight dissimilar items, which fortunate players will be able to use one at a time.
With the addition of two new characters, Mario Kart 8 will now have 30 characters in total. The announcement on Nintendo Direct says, "New heavyweight driver Pink Gold Peach glows with a golden light and makes a shiny counterpart to Metal Mario, while the new Baby Rosalina shows up for a play date with other Baby characters. As in past Mario Kart games, players can again choose to play as their Mii characters, rounding out the field of racers to a total of 30."
While you can pre-order Mario Kart 8 Wii U Deluxe bundle on Amazon, recently Nintendo announced a different Mario Kart 8 bundle for the UK, which includes a Yoshi Wii Remote Plus. It will come for £250.
