Mario Kart 8 Release Date DLC: Nintendo Partners with Mercedes-Benz to Bring Luxury Car as Racing Option for Free (TRAILER)

Mario Kart 8 is getting a real car added to the madness of everyone's favorite Nintendo racer in a free DLC that gives gamers the opportunity to drive a Mercedes-Benz GLA.

Called the Mercedes-Benz DLC, it is free according to Kotaku. This info was revealed through a Japanese advertisement that features a real life Mario driving the car through a video game themed course.

Mario Kart 8 is also offering bonus deals to gamers who purchase or register the game between May 31 and July 31, 2014.

Nintendo Australia stated in a press release "Whether Mario Kart 8 is purchased at retail or via Nintendo eShop, if you register an accompanying Club Nintendo PIN code of the game with Club Nintendo between 31st May 2014 (00:01 AEST) and 31st July 2014 (23:59 AEST), you will be eligible to claim a free download code for one of 10 selected Wii U games by 31st August 2014 (23:59 AEST)."

The game will be released on May 30 for the Wii U and is hoping to boost the sales of the struggling console.

According to IGN, there are at least 14 unlockable characters. As of right now, 10 are confirmed. They include: Larry, Morton, Wendy, Iggy, Roy, Lemmy, Ludwig, Pink Gold Peach, Baby Rosalina, and Mii.

The 20 playable characters are: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Toad, Koopa Troopa, Daisy, Shy Guy, Wario, Waluigi, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Baby Peach, Baby Daisey, Rosalina, Toadette, Metal Mario, and Lakitu.
