'Marco Polo' Netflix Release Date, Cast News: New Series Premieres December 12, 2014
A brand new series is set to come to Netflix on December 12 for its Season 1 debut. 'Marco Polo' created by John Fusco will feature many recognizable actors that will surely spark up a fan base for the show.
The show's Season 1 will consist of 10 episodes and will star Lorenzo Richelmy as Marco Polo. The show is based off some of the events in the life of Italian figure and explorer, Marco Polo.
Other familiar actors that have been cast on the show include Zhu Zhu ('Cloud Atlas'), Joan Chen ('Twin Peaks') and Benedict Wong ('Prometheus'). Also, Remy Hii, Olivia Cheng, Claudia Kim, Uli Latukefu, Chin Han and Tom Wu will appear in the series.
Beyond the cast of characters, the show's producers are not new to the TV series scene in the slightest. Joining John Fusco are Harvey Weinstein and Dan Minahan, of 'Game of Thrones' and 'True Blood' fame.
On a side note, 'Marco Polo' was originally intended to be developed back in 2012, however, due some production issues, the show flunked with the attempts to film in China.
As it stands, there's currently not much information in terms of what viewers can expect with the plot. However, due to recent popularity of the current Netflix series, 'Orange is the New Black', it does not seem likely that the network would elect a new show and have it completely flop.
All that can really be said about what the show will be entails is that Marco Polo will be the explorer he's known to be, and go on adventures in Kublai Khan's court in 13th century China.
