Apparently, we haven't come very far. In light of the racist slurs running rampent on social medias after the Zimmerman verdict, our Nation appears to be in a continued digenerative state after New York born Puerto Rican Marc Anthony sang the national anthem at the All-Stars MLB game. 

Some comments on Twitter said:

"Welcome to america where god bless america is sung at our national pastime by a mexican", said Tyler Pounds (@tylerpounds). 

"Another disgrace Marc Manthony singing god bless America. Is he even an American citizen?" said Brian Edwards (@Dusboy7).

"Letting a Spanish guy sing God Bless America really hurts my heart. Figure it out America #USA" said Trey McNickle (@treymcnickle). 

"To be selected to sing God Bless America for the MLB All Star Game shouldn't you at lease be FROM America?", said Joshua Vardaman (@jdvadaman_50). 

"Is Mark Antony going to soing "God Bless America" in Spanish? #borderproblems", said Derik Olson (@dolso4). 

Mark Anthony graciously replied to the racist slurs and backlast on the 'Live! With Keppy and Michael', "Something happened, I wanted to clarify. You know, me singing the national anthem, there was some statements made that people were upset that they would have somebody from another country sing the national anthem. But to set the record straight, I was born and raised in New York. You can't get more New York than me." 

Mark Anthony was born and raised by in East Harlem by Puerto Rican parents. For the record: PUERTO RICO is ALSO a territory of the United States, and all Puerto Ricans (whether born in Puerto Rico or in the mainland of the United States) are American. 

The public has begun shaming the incorrect and racist tweeters, and many have resulted to deleting their accounts. 

In an act to support the artist, many are committing to purchasing his upcoming Salsa ablum next week, on July 23, entitled 3.0.
