Manny Pacquiao vs Chris Algieri Next Fight News: Undefeated Boxer Not Worried, Has a 'Game Plan'
The undefeated light welterweight champion Chris Algieri can't wait to step into the ring with Manny Pacquiao for their fight on Nov. 22 at the Venetian Resort in Macau, China.
When interviewed about the fight with the "8-division world champion", Algieri said that he is not worried about Pacquiao, and that he will prepare a "game plan" for the fight.
Algieri won 20 boxing matches, with 8 of those as "knock outs," and incurred no loses in his career. He will reportedly get $1 million from the fight with Pacquiao if he wins.
Algieri will attempt to steal Pacquiao's WBO welterweight belt and become a two-division champion.
When asked about the odds of Pacquiao against Algieri, Freddie Roach, coach of Pacquiao confidently said in an interview with LA Times, "Manny's much more versatile, I see this guy as I did when we fought Oscar De La Hoya. He's left-handed, leads with his power hand-left jab, left hook are good. Not much of a right. Tall, not quite in Oscar's league. He can run better than Oscar. We'll win."
Algieri, in a statement to NY Post, said "A jab and a good-timing beats speed, and defense beats power," adding "I'm going to be smarter. I've got to stick to the game plan and go out there and do what I always do."
The two contenders are both celebrated champions, according to Latin Post.
Algieri won the World Boxing Organization light welterweight title via split-decision against Ruslan Provodnikov. On the other hand, Pacquaio won "hands down" against Timothy Bradley in April.
Meanwhile, both Algieri and Pacquiao are on a 27,000-mile tour to promote their WBO welterweight title fight in Macau, China on Thursday, Nov. 22. Stops included on the tour are Macau, Shanghai, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York.
