Manny Pacquiao Next Fight News: Bob Arum Wants Rematch with Floyd Mayweather or Showdown with Terence Crawford [VIDEO]
The Filipino legendary boxer Manny Pacquiao is expected to return to the ring as soon as he recovers from his shoulder injury - perhaps sometime in 2016. In fact, his promoter and Top Rank CEO Bob Arum is said to be already planning his next fight.
Latin Post reports that Arum wants the 36-year-old Pacquino to have a rematch with the indomitable boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., who has remained unbeaten, a record 48 times. If this does not work, Arum wants a clash with the present World Boxing Organization light weight champion Terence Crawford, who has also remained unbeaten 26 times, besides having 18 knockout victories under his belt.
According to reports, Filipino fighter sustained a shoulder injury during training for his battle against Mayweather at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas with "The Money." In fact, his loss to Mayweather on May 2 and his injury made several boxing enthusiasts raise doubts about Pacquiao's future career.
Prior to the megafight, GMA Network reported that the Philippine president Benigno Aquino III also advised Pacquiao to spend more quality time with his family and retire since "continued fighting in the ring does not promote good health."
Nevertheless, Arum is of the view that Mayweather's victory over Pacquiao is "indecisive," as the promoter thinks that Pacman edged over Mayweather in seven of the 12 rounds, reports BoxingNews24.com.
However, the possibility of a rematch with Mayweather seems to be unlikely at the moment and, as a result, even a financially successful subsequent fight for Pacquiao may have been lost. As the last bout between the two best boxers of the current generation was a great disappointment, it is likely that they will not earn great money if a rematch happens.
Meanwhile, Arum told ESNews,"He's [Pacquiao] going to go right to an elite fighter. I would rather him fight Terence Crawford. The money that was made in the last fight [against Mayweather], and a rematch wouldn't do as well, but it would still do tremendous, bigger than any other fight. I think that if the Mayweather people want the rematch, we would be willing to do it."
