Manny Pacquiao Next Fight 2014: Mayweather Off the Cards, Will Defend Title Against Undefeated Chris Algieri Next

The "People's Champ" Manny "Pacman' Pacquiao will return to the ring on November 22 to defend his World Boxing Organization Welterwight title against the undefeated American boxer, Chris Algieri. According to Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, the fight will take place in Macau.

The Venetian Macao will host the bout. The venue is where Pacquiao claimed a unanimous decision victory against Brandon Rios last November.

In April, Pacquiao won his fight against Timothy Bradley to regain the WBO Welterweight title and avenge a controversial loss to the American fighter in June 2012.

The 30-year old Algieri is a former kick-boxer and has a 20-0 professional record and won the WBO light Welterweight title last month by a split decision against Russia's Rusian Provodnikov.

In an interview with ESPN, Arum said that Pacquiao was looking forward to the fight.

"Manny is one hundred percent for it. I told him I was coming along with it. He said Algieri seems like a nice young man and he saw his fight with Provodnikov," said Arum, "Manny said he thought it would be a good fight and he was OK with fighting Algieri."

Meanwhile, fans who have been clamoring for a Pacquiao-Mayweather match may be in for a long wait as there has not been one word of confirmation regarding both camps regarding the possibility of a fight. In recent statements to the press, Pacquiao has mentioned that he wants to make this happen and that "his line is open 24/7" if ever Mayweather decides to give him a call.
