Manny Pacquiao Next Fight 2014 Rumors: Will Pacquiao vs Mayweather Happen? Miguel Cotto or Sergio Martinez More Likely Opponents
Speculation is rife that Manny Pacquiao may meet either Sergio Martinez of Argentina or Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico in his next fight scheduled for later this year.
The Filipino boxer defeated Timothy Bradley in April and now has a number of boxers lined up who want to take him on.
In an interview with RingTV, Top Rank executive Bob Arum said, "Plenty of future guys for Manny to fight."
Actually Arum meant that in addition to Martinez and Cotto, Manny Pacquiao may have to fight Juan Manuel Marquez, Mike Alvarado, and Ruslan Provodnikov.
Referring to the fight that is scheduled to take place on June 7, Arum said, "Who wouldn't want to see him against Miguel Cotto again, if Miguel Cotto is successful against Martinez?"
He further said, "Indeed, who wouldn't want to see Pacquiao against Martinez, if Martinez and successful can come down in weight a little bit?"
Meanwhile, Lou DiBella, who is Martinez's promoter, told RingTV that he would definitely want to fight Pacquiao for his boxer.
DiBella said, "That would be a wonderful thing," adding, "We would love to have that opportunity. I'm all ears. We'll talk."
Furthermore, he said, "After Sergio beats Miguel Cotto, I'll be happy to sit down and talk."
There are rumors that Manny Pacquiao may also face the victor of the Marquez-Alvarado fight, which will take place on May 17.
Meanwhile, congratulating Floyd Mayweather on his recent triumphs, Muhammad Ali tweeted that he should now take on Manny Pacquiao, reports YardBarker.com. However, as usual the two sides look no closer to resolving their differences and arranging the details if the fight that every boxing fan wants to see. For the moment Pacquiao vs Mayweather seems as far away as ever. But with both boxers aging, time is running out for what would surely be the super fight of this generation.
