Manny Pacquiao Next Fight 2014 Rumors: Floyd Mayweather Jr Next Year? (VIDEO)

In latest boxing news, pugilist legends Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao are rumored to finally battle each other next year, in order to determine who's the best fighter in the world.

According to a Boxing Insider report, a source alleged that Floyd Mayweather Sr. wants to set up the much anticipated fight between his son and the Filipino fighter in order to cement his son's legacy among the greatest boxers in history such as Muhammad Ali, Joe Louis, Joe Frazier, Rocky Marciano to name a few.

"I thought at the time that maybe the dad was just saying that because he was trying to motivate the fight," said the unidentified source to Boxing Insider in reference to Floyd's father who is also the trainer and manager of the 37-year-old boxer.

The fight between the two greatest boxers in modern day history is expected to take place sometime after Mayweather Jr's upcoming rematch with Marcos Maidana in September.

"Marcos Maidana is a tough customer and he gave me a fight that had me work for the victory. His style is difficult at best, but with experience comes a way and will to win," said Mayweather Jr recently in a statement about his future bout with the Argentine boxer in less than two months.

"I'm not one to give second chances in the ring, but I want to give the fans what they want to see. I will be as prepared as I always am when I step in the ring on Sep. 13. I only see the outcome one way and that's another successful night for me and my team."

Pacquiao's boxing promoter Bob Arum has previously stated that his client wants to fight "Money" Mayweather, after Pac-Man defeated Brandon Rios earlier this year.

"On our side the answer is yes [he fight can be made in 2014], we're very open to it," Arum to reporters, "There are ways it can get done, they have to dumb down the rhetoric, we are prepared to dumb down the rhetoric and get it done. There is no real impediment to having that fight happen whether it will or not depends completely on the Mayweather side. I can see it happening but I can't predict that it will happen because it takes two to tango."
