Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Fight News 2014: Fighters Slug it Out on Twitter, Instagram
As fans look forward to a fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the ring, there's already one raging between them over social media. Recently, both legendary boxers threw jabs at each other over Twitter and Instagram.
The online feud started when Mayweather promoted his rematch against Marcos Maidana via his reality show, 'All Access'. In the promotional post, an image depicted the undefeated boxer in the company of beautiful women while friends of his smoked, what was allegedly marijuana, around him.
Mayweather clarified the details and context of the photo in another Twitter post, he said "It wasn't real marijuana, it's all about entertainment." and "I don't want to just sell a fight. I want to sell a lifestyle."
Soon after, Pacquiao posted his disapproval over Twitter with a post that read, "@FloydMayweather's testimony to the commission on All Access' authenticity tells me everything I need to know about his desire to fight me."
The Filipino wonder took it one step further during an interview in his home country, the Philippines. According to the Agence France-Presse (AFP), when asked about the matter, Pacquiao responded by saying, "I'm not angry at him. I still feel sorry for him because he acts like an uneducated person. It's pitiful to me and I'm praying for him."
He also took a verse from the New Testament, quoting: "For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?"
Catching wind of Pacquiao's comments, Floyd took a jab at Pacquiao's ego, sharing an image depicting his defeat at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez back in 2012, on his Twitter and Instagram pages.
On Twitter, in addition to the picture, Floyd tweeted, "Miss Pac Man is broke and needs a pay day. Your Pay-Per-View numbers are a joke." It has since been retweeted more than 16,000 times.
Some speculate that the verbal fight and hard feelings between the two professional pugilists may just result in a bout between them. Fans are hoping to see the two settle this once and for all in the ring, but as it stands, there's no news about that yet.
