Manchester United Transfer Rumors: Utd May Have to Pay Big to Pry Kevin Strootman from Roma

Manchester United is looking to add another player, Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman, to their roster, but from where they are currently standing, it would take a serious investment if they want to pull it off.

It was after Louis Van Gaal took charge of United that he set his eyes on Strootman, acknowledging his value as a key player. Van Gaal was supposed to take Stootman to Brazil for the World Cup in the name of Netherlands, but a knee injury in March took that chance away from him

Strootman is currently recovering from the injury and Van Gaal has said that he would not make any moves on the player, not before assessing his health after recovery.

"I never say anything about individual players - it's my vision that we have to be about the team and not individual players. Other players, not at Manchester United, I can't judge - I am not there," Van Gaal says, according to Sky Sports.

"Strootman I can judge, but he has been injured for more than six months. We have to wait and see how he comes back. It's not so easy to come back out of an injury, so we'll wait and see," he adds.

As long as Strootman has not fully recovered yet, it would seem that the next deal would occur sometime in January next year. Roma's manager Rudi Garcia however, does not intend on giving up the 24-year old midfielder easily. If anything, he would only be willing to let go of Strootman, if he left with steep price tag.

"What can I say about the rumors about Strootman joining United? Maybe after a three-digit offer, then we will sit down and think about it," Garcia said, according to ESPN.
