Manchester United Transfer News: Van Gaal Takes More Time Before Buying New Players
The Premier League giant is undergoing assessment by their new coach, Louis Van Gaal. Before any purchases are made, Van Gaal is taking his time to assess what his current players can do and making a shopping list of new players.
Right now, he has given himself four weeks to make up his mind, but some think this might not be enough time as the window for purchasing quality players is closing fast. Not to mention the fact that Michael Carrick is going to be out for a few months following his post-ankle surgery.
Van Gaal needs to get moving with purchasing players since his line-up is still ill-equipped. The Manchester coach has already purchased Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw to buff the roster, but this won't be enough to make a comeback next season.
What's more pressing is the team's need for a more rigid defense, specifically a need for two center-backs and a full-back. Van Gaal's window for that might already be closing as the Dutch defender trio, Stefan De Vrij, Bruno Martins Indi, and Daley Blind are already being bought by other clubs.
Martins Indi has already been bought by FC Porto and De Vrij is being chased by the Italian FC Lazio. Van Gaal needs to make a move if he wants new players for the roster. Waiting four weeks might not be a good idea for them, but there's no rule about getting players immediately.
If Van Gaal does intend to make use of the four weeks to assess his team, then it could be costly for them when it comes to acquiring new players that late into the season.
