Manchester United Transfer Rumors and News: Cristiano Ronaldo Hints of Return to Old Trafford

Portugal national team captain Cristiano Ronado, who plays for Real Madrid, has hinted that he might return to Manchester United for the next season.

The 29-year-old forward spent five years at Old Trafford prior to making his then-world-record transfer to Real Mardrid in 2009. Ronaldo has not only attained legendary status in Real, but has scored an unbelievable 177 goals in La Liga during the last five seasons.

The FIFA Ballon d'Or holder has also shattered the record for the number of goals scored in the UEFA Champions League in a single campaign taking his Spanish club to victory in the premier club competition in Europe in the last term.

His phenomenal record at the Bernabeu notwithstanding, Ronaldo has regularly been connected to a move back to United.

Although Ronaldo has signed a new contract that will keep him at the Bernebeu until 2018, when he will be 33, the legendary footballer has not ruled out the possibilities of returning to Old Trafford, which holds a special place in his heart.

Referring to Manchester United, Ronaldo recently told MUTV, "Of course, it was one of my favourite clubs, Manchester, everyone knows that every time when I speak about Real Madrid I should speak about Manchester United, I love it there, " adding, "I was 18-years-old, I win everything there. The people treat me like a god there so I appreciate it and in the future nobody knows."

Meanwhile, the Portugal captain, currently injured, will miss Real's International Champions Cup meeting with Manchester United in Michigan on Saturday, as he continues to recover ahead of the new season.
