Brainiac is reportedly going to be Superman's biggest nemesis in "Man of Steel 2."

While there has been no confirmation yet from DC and Warner Bros. that a second "Man of Steel" film is indeed happening, rumors have already been going around that the big bad in the film will be Brainiac. According to rumors, the sequel will see Brainiac go up against the power and might of Superman in a space encounter.

Some speculate that it is sensible to have Brainiac as the new antagonist in "Man of Steel 2" because he is depicted as one of the most powerful villains in the comic book incarnations of the superhero.  Brainiac was also considered as one of the features of "Superman Lives," the supposed "Superman" movie of Nicholas Cage that ended up being scrapped.

There are speculations that Superman will have two showdowns of force with Brainiac in the "Man of Steel" sequel, and their battle will take place in space where Superman will meet his cousin Supergirl. Rumor also has it that the film will feature Martian Manhunter, who will cause the descent of the villain on planet Earth after chasing him around the galaxy. It is speculated that Superman will fight Brainiac on Earth once again, and this fight will see the arrival of the other members of the Justice League to assist the Man of Steel.

J.J. Adams is also rumored to direct the film. Warner Bros. is reportedly in talks with the director, who is known for his magic to bring a dead franchise back on track.
