Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 Latest News: First Investigation Team Arrives, Evidence Tampered With by Rebels
After the grievous incident, the shooting down of the Malaysian flight MH177, international investigators are now involved in the painstaking task of collecting the body parts and various belongings of the victims. The plane crashed in the eastern Ukraine after it was shot down during a firing fight between the Ukrainian military and Pro-Russian separatists.
The team of investigators were the first officials to reach the site after the crash had taken place nearly two weeks ago. Sadly, all 298 passengers on board have died in the incident.
The investigating group is comprised of 101 people that includes 21 observers from the OCSE, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, 51 Dutch police and 21 Australian police and investigators.
The group arrived in the area with dozens of vehicles to scour the region for the remains of the passengers who passed away in the incident; they are also looking for any additional evidence in the debris.
More than 200 bodies of those who died in the crash were moved from the region by a special train last week and were then flown to Eindhoven. This came as a surprise to investigators as they had only expected to find 80 bodies. The impact of the crash was spread over a large region, making it difficult to scour every part of it.
Also, it was said that locals in the area had already looted and tampered with the evidence at the site, long before the first investigation team got there.
